John Binet-Fauvel

About me

I am John Binet-Fauvel, a wire sculptor and knitter from South Wales, UK.

I was born in Jersey in the Channel Islands in 1953, and my island roots (more specifically oceanic) have long influenced my work. I trained in Fine Art Sculpture at Winchester School of Art in the mid 70's, and in the early 80's I became a partner in my wife's designer textile business "Melissa Warren". During this time I explored knitted sculptural forms which led to experiments with wire. I have now set up a studio of my own and I work from home.

I was a member of the Makers Guild in Wales (2006-10), Waterfront Gallery (Guest Member 2006-07) and I was a founder member of Fibre Art Wales.

I have lectured at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (2003), and have had my work featured in numerous magazines and blogs.
